Apatite is found in igneous, sedimentary and metamorfic rocks. It has excellent clarity, so it is often cut into faceted stones. Rarely, translucent Apatite may have rutile silk inclusions, which cause chatoyancy, or "cat's-eye" effect.
Apatite's Blue and greenish Blue sometimess might be confused with Paraiba Tourmaline, but gemological tests can easily reveal the true. As a gemstone, Apatite is popular with gem collectors rather than its jewelry buyers.
