ORIGIN INFORMATION
  • Gemological testing revealed characteristics consistent with those of Natural Tourmaline from:
  • CountryMozambique
  • Copper-bearing tourmaline discovery in Mozambique is relatively new, it was first discovered in 2001. Wide variety of colors has been recorded in the findings including the rare deep purple and violetish blue hues.

  • CommentsThis copper and manganese bearing tourmaline is known as "Paraiba Tourmaline" in the trade.

    Any statements on origin is an expert opinion based on a collection of observations and analytical data.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • The UV-Vis-SIR absorption spectra shows the tourmaline has absorption at around 700nm, which is the absorption by traces of Fe2+ or Cu2+ that produces greenish blue color in tourmaline. Thus, absorption around 900nm giving out information to distinguish coloration by Cu and Fe and to estimate the copper content.

  • The natural tourmaline from Mozambique mentioned in this report is known as "Paraiba Tourmaline", distinguished by its copper content. With its exceptional wieght of 24.10 carats, making it a true rare piece. The gemstone's amazing lustre and great cutting, giving the stone a beautiful scintillation. Such a visually appealing piece worth our special mention.
