  • Gemological testing revealed characteristics consistent with those of Natural Fancy Sapphire from:
  • CountrySri Lanka
  • Sri Lanka mines produce fancy sapphire since ancient times, it has been well established by 1292, when Marco Polo first landed the Gem Island. To this day, it is still one of the most prominent fancy sapphire producers in the world.

  • As the general colorless corundum formula is aluminium oxide, the presence of trace elements will provide its color. In this stone the presence of pink color is due to the presence of chromium, it is proven by the broad band around 552 nm.

  • A natural fancy sapphire weighing 10.44 carats with such a gentle yet eye-catching color and without presence of treatment is very rare. Beyond its color, it possesses great lustre which is highly appreciated by many gemstone collectors.
